| Course Description: | This year we will be learning about the various types of literature and the various types of writing! I have broken the year down into 4 quarters and we will cover a different type of writing in each quarter. The quarters may or may not go in the order listed below! |

| The Short Story: We will be studying the elements of a short story and learning how to evaluate these stories for THEME. These short stories will be handed out in packet at the beginning of the unit. |

| Poetry: For this unit we will be learning about different kinds of poetry and writing our own poems. Students will receive a poetry packet at the beginning of the unit that we will use for the quarter. | |
| The Novel: For this unit we will be reading Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt. For the novel unit, we will be reading one of my favorite books! We will be learning how to analyze literature and decide what we believe the author is trying to say. (Please purchase) |

Middle School Chemistry: Chemistry for the Logic State

| Course Description: | Chemistry for the Logic Stage leads the middle school student through a study of the key facts of chemistry by digging deeper into what was studied during the elementary years. Students will get an overview of key chemistry topics such as: • The Periodic Table • Matter • Solutions • Chemical Reactions • Acids & Bases and more! This class will be a lab-based class in which students will also learn how to conduct experiments, write lab reports, and present their own lab in class! |

Middle School History: The Renaissance, Reformation, and Growth of Nations

| Course Description: | We will be using The Mystery of History, Volume III, to dive into a historically accurate, Christ-centered approach to the time period of “The Renaissance, Reformation, and Growth of Nations”, studying 1455 to 1707. This class will utilize both reading and project based learning to bring history to life as we study. My goal is to preserve a love for learning how God’s story has intersected with history. |
